HOW TO CUT CURLY HAIR: WHAT TO ASK YOUR HAIRDRESSER
When you’re cutting curly hair, you need to think more about shape because your hair is not all one uniform length. This is why curly hair is usually cut dry, to focus on the shape of your hair when natural.
As a client, bring photos of people with a similar type of hair that show the look you are going for. Think about the texture of your hair. Do your curls frizz, do they tend to be a tighter spiral or a softer wave? These are all things to take into consideraton when walking into a hair salon and talking to your hairdresser.
- Ask your hairdresser to give you a cut based on how much you plan on styling your hair. If you don’t spend a long time styling your hair, ask your hairstylist for suggestions on simple ways to minimize the time spent styling your hair. This could be by use of a product or by a cut that requires little styling.
